SUMMARY:Media Shift: Youth Storytellers & Changemakers
DESCRIPTION:Grab a camera and start recording! Discover how to use broadcasting cameras\, craft stories through interviews\, and edit like a pro with DaVinci Resolve 19! Students will dive into making a short documentary\, building teamwork\, civic participation\, and much more. \nMedia Shift is a 15- week hands-on program designed for students in 5th to 12th grade\, where you can learn how to create powerful short videos on topics that matter to them to inspire action and awareness! This program allows you to tell your own story while building media skills that can really make a difference. \nIn this hands-on program\, participants will explore the fundamentals of documentary filmmaking with a strong focus on impact-driven storytelling. From concept development to final edits\, participants will work on producing a 6–9 minute short documentary centered on a social issue\, movement\, or local cause they care deeply about. \nThroughout the course\, participants will learn how to: \n\n\nConduct interviews and research with integrity and impact \n\n\nFilm and edit with intention and authenticity \n\n\nNavigate ethical questions in media work \n\n\nBuild narratives that resonate with diverse audiences \n\nConnect with civic leaders to foster and start discourse and action\n\nThe course will culminate in a community screening and discussion event\, where participants will present their finished films\, share their creative journey\, and engage in a Q&A session with the public. \nNo prior filmmaking experience is required—just a commitment to storytelling\, community\, and collaboration \nKey Details: \n\nDates: Saturday\, October 11\, 2025 – Saturday\, January 24\, 2025 (with a break for the holidays)\nTime: 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM (Saturdays)\nLocation: Public Media Network\nAges: 5th to 12th graders\nCapacity: Limited to 10 participants\n\nRegister Now \nSpaces are limited\, so make sure to grab your child’s spot today! \nHave questions?
