Gavel to Gavel: Upcoming Local Government Meetings and Key Agenda Items – February 2 – 5

Welcome to the month of February! We’re kicking things off with a busy week of meetings:


Monday (02/02):

City of Kalamazoo Committee of the Whole (5:00 PM, PMN4): Monday night’s Committee of the Whole meeting will center on a work session reviewing a Housing Corridor Study for the City of Kalamazoo.

Comstock Township Board of Trustees (6:00 PM, PMN3): The Comstock Board will tackle a long agenda, covering Employee Handbook updates, a Notice of Intent to issue bonds, a request for partial release of Farmland Development Rights, and more.

Kalamazoo City Commission (7:00 PM, PMN4): The City Commission will hold a Public Hearing to receive comments on the establishment of a Neighborhood Enterprise Zone (NEZ) at the southwest corner of Vine Street & S Burdick Street. Then, voting on the authorization of several contracts and purchases, including a contract with Balkema Excavating for the Kalamazoo Airport Water Main Looping Project and a Stadium Seating purchase from local manufacturer Interkal. Tuesday (02/03):

Kalamazoo County Committee of the Whole (4:00 PM, PMN4): The Committee of the Whole will hear a presentation on the Kalamazoo County Public Art Commission Annual Report, as well as discuss funding support for Blueprint for Peace Gun Violence Prevention and Intervention Initiative. Then, the County Committee of the Whole will enter closed session for an update and discussion related to the lease of site of the Asylum Lake Preserve pursuant to MCL 15.268(d).

Wednesday (02/04):

City of Kalamazoo Civil Rights Board (6:00 PM, PMN4): The Kalamazoo Civil Rights Board will nominate and elect a Board Chair, as well as a Vice-Chair. Then, respective updates from the Education and Ordinance Review Subcommittees.

Thursday (02/05):

City of Kalamazoo Planning Commission (7:00 PM, PMN4): The Planning Commission will meet Thursday to discuss a Zoning Ordinance Amendment Introduction as well as report on the 2025 Site Plan List.
