Gavel to Gavel: Upcoming Local Government Meetings and Key Agenda Items – March 16 – 19

Welcome to another week of local government!

Monday (03/16):

Comstock Township Board of Trustees (6:00 PM, PMN3): The Comstock Board will meet to discuss a wide array of agenda items, including PFAS Well Testing, discussion on Public Comment, the 2026 County Road Contract, and second readings of two ordinances enacting moratoriums on Principal Use Solar and Wind Energy Facilities as well as Data Centers. City of Kalamazoo Committee of the Whole (5:00 PM, PMN4): The Committee of the Whole will hold a work session on a Development and Housing Incentives briefing.

Kalamazoo City Commission (7:00 PM, PMN4): The City Commission will vote on several contracts, budget amendments, and board appointments including an MDOT contract for road improvements at Howard St. and Winchell Ave. Malcolm Hankins will give the City Manager’s Report, and then the Commission will enter a closed session for discussion of Labor Negotiations.

Tuesday (03/17):

Kalamazoo County Committee of the Whole (4:00 PM, PMN2): The County Committee of the Whole will hear an update on the Kalamazoo County Fair from Parks & Expo Center Director Dave Rachowicz. Then, the Committee will discuss the role of the Building Authority in the new County construction projects. Read more about this meeting here.

Kalamazoo County Board of Commissioners (6:30 PM, PMN2): The Kalamazoo County Board will vote to authorize the Subcontractor Selections for the 440 N. Church Street Parking Garage Construction Project as Recommended by the Building Authority, as well as establish a Guaranteed Maximum Price for the project. Read more here.

City of Kalamazoo Historic District Commission (6:00 PM, PMN4): The City of Kalamazoo Historic District Commission is set to appoint Nelson Nave as a Commissioner, as well as review the Certified Local Government Program 2025 Annual Report.
