Gavel to Gavel: Upcoming Local Government Meetings and Key Agenda Items – May 26 – 28

Following the Memorial Day break, here’s what lies ahead in this week’s local government meeting schedule:

Tuesday (05/26):

Oshtemo Township Zoning Board of Appeals (3:00 PM, PMN3): Oshtemo’s Zoning Board of Appeals will meet Tuesday, considering a request for a variance from the 200-foot minimum frontage requirement to allow a land division resulting in a parcel to be without frontage as well as a request for a variance from the 10-acre minimum area requirement for a commercial planned unit development (PUD) by Michigan Housing Partnership.

Comstock Township Zoning Board of Appeals (4:00 PM, PMN2): The regular meeting of the Zoning Board of Appeals, scheduled for Tuesday, May 26, 2026, has been canceled for lack of agenda items.

Oshtemo Township Board of Trustees (5:30 PM, PMN3): Oshtemo’s Board will hear a presentation on Human Resources Organizational Structure and Staff Recommendations, and discuss consideration of the proposed HR recommendations. Then, Trustees will further discuss Public Act 233 and other items related to renewable energy.

Kalamazoo Township Board of Trustees (7:00 PM, PMN4): The Kalamazoo Township Board will hear presentation of Township Police Staffing Promotions, adopt a resolution to participate in the Michigan Economic Development Corporation’s Redevelopment Ready Communities Program, and more.

Wednesday (05/27):

City of Kalamazoo Natural Features Protection and Review Board (4:00 PM): The May 27, 2026 City of Kalamazoo Natural Features Protection and Review Board meeting has been canceled.

Comstock Township Downtown Development Authority (5:30 PM, PMN3): The Comstock Township DDA will review and discuss the Downtown Development Plan and the Board’s Bylaws at Wednesday’s meeting.

Thursday (05/28):

Oshtemo Township Planning Commission (6:00 PM, PMN3): The Oshtemo Township Planning Commission is set to conduct a public hearing for the Michigan Housing Partnership, which requests rezoning of approximately 38.5 acres on Parkview Avenue from R-5:Residence District and C: Local Business District to R-4: Residence District

Comstock Township Planning Commission (6:00 PM, PMN2): The Comstock Planning Commission will meet Thursday to discuss revisions to the Temporary Sales and Services and Vacant Lot Structures ordinances. Then, continued discussion on the Housing Study.
