Every community holds stories that haven’t been fully told. Stories about where we came from, who we are, and what connects us to each other. Youth StoryLabs exists to find those stories ā and the young journalists and storytellers in this program have been doing exactly that.
On June 6, you’re invited to see what they’ve uncovered.
This screening brings together original work from youth who spent real time digging into the topics that matter to them and to Kalamazoo. Their stories span a remarkable range: untold adoption journeys, the experiences of students pursuing education far from home, the world inside an orchestra, the surprisingly contentious history of daylight saving time, and more. What these stories share is a commitment to going deeper ā past the surface, into the lived experiences that shape our community.
This is what Youth StoryLabs is built for. Not media for media’s sake, but storytelling as a way of seeing each other more clearly.
Come ready to be surprised, moved, and curious. These young storytellers have earned an audience ā and their stories deserve yours.
