Gavel to Gavel: Upcoming Local Government Meetings and Key Agenda Items – July 13 – 17

This week, there are meetings in Comstock, Oshtemo, and Kalamazoo Townships. A special joint meeting will be held in Comstock with the Parks Commission and Township Board, Kalamazoo Township will provide first readings of data center and battery energy storage Moratoriums, and similarly Oshtemo Township will continue with moratorium discussions and PA 233 discussion. Also meeting this week, the Road Commission of Kalamazoo County and City Environmental Concerns Committee. Let’s take a closer look:

Monday (07/13)

Comstock Township Parks and Recreation Commission Special Joint Meeting (6:00 PM, PMN3): The Parks & Recreation Commission and the Township Board will hold a Special Meeting on Monday July 13th, 2026, at 6:00 PM to discuss Parks Emergency Funding and the Ordinance Official position.

Kalamazoo Township Board of Trustees (7:00 PM, PMN4): The Kalamazoo Township Board will present first readings of two moratorium ordinance– Ordinance No. 647, moratorium on data centers, scheduled for adoption on July 27, 2026, and Ordinance 645: moratorium on battery energy storage facilities, scheduled for adoption on July 27, 2026. Then, the Board will vote to accept a settlement and release agreement with former Treasurer Sherine Miller. Read the full meeting agenda here.

Tuesday (07/14)

Road Commission of Kalamazoo County (3:00 PM, PMN2): When available, Road Commission of Kalamazoo County meeting materials will be made available here.

Oshtemo Township Board of Trustees (5:30 PM, PMN3): Oshtemo’s Township Board will continue discussion on PA 233, a Moratorium on Solar, and will vote on the support of a Local Control Claim of Appeal Against the Michigan Public Service Commission.
