Comstock Township’s Parks and Recreation Board appointed Program Coordinator Katie Justa as interim director while the township runs a formal search for a permanent replacement.
The appointment came during a September 1 special meeting, where the board also reviewed a draft job description for the director position and discussed the hiring process, including budget authorization, recruiting, and the Parks Commission’s role in interviewing candidates. Justa will take on interim director responsibilities in addition to her current program coordinator duties; the board discussed providing her a stipend for the added workload during the transition period.
The board also used the meeting to review its standard operating procedures for hiring and department operations, with members saying the goal is to create clearer, more consistent processes, particularly for filling vacant positions going forward.
