Entering another week of Local Government meetings, let’s take a look at some updates and notable agenda items:
Monday (09/15):
City of Kalamazoo Committee of the Whole (5:00 PM, PMN4): Monday’s Committee of the Whole meeting will hold a work session centered around the Imagine Kalamazoo 2035 Strategic Vision Draft Update
Kalamazoo City Commission (7:00 PM, PMN4): The Kalamazoo City Commission business meeting will include two Public Hearings, one for the HUD Performance Report and another for a resolution to create the at Porter Street Neighborhood Enterprise Zone.
Comstock Township Board (6:00 PM, PMN3): The Comstock Board will hold first readings for an ordinance amending Uniform Fire Code, as well as two first readings for rezoning requests. Trustees will also discuss vendor comparison for Weather Sirens as well as the roles and actions of Deputies. Read more about this meeting’s agenda here.
Tuesday (09/16):
Kalamazoo County Committee of the Whole (4:00 PM, PMN4): Tuesday’s Committee of the Whole meeting will open with a Kalamazoo Transportation Authority (KCTA) & Central County Transportation Authority update from Sean McBride. Then, the Committee will hold a 2026 Budget Discussion, as well as a first reading of a resolution opposing the State House of Representatives’ FY26 budget cuts to county revenue sharing.
Kalamazoo County Board of Commissioners (6:30 PM, PMN4): Kalamazoo County’s Board of Commissioners meets at 6:30 to vote on approvals of several business amendments, contract renewals, and grants. New business includes a vote to terminate an ARPA Agreement Between Kalamazoo County and Texas Charter Township, and in turn establish an ARPA Severe Weather Disaster Relief Fund.
City of Kalamazoo Historic District Commission (5:00 PM, PMN2): The Historic District Commission meeting will include three hearings, focusing on alterations at 1411 Grand and 1006 Osborne, as well as a demolition at 1406 S Westnedge.

Wednesday (09/17):
City of Kalamazoo Environmental Concerns Committee (4:30 PM, PMN4): Wednesday’s ECC meeting will include the filling of the vacant Vice Chair position on the Committee. Then, commissioners will have the final review of proposed adjustments to bylaws.
