Stories that Work for Good: A New Storytelling Opportunity for Kalamazoo Nonprofits

Every day, nonprofits across Kalamazoo County are improving lives, providing food, housing, education, health services, arts programming, and connection. Yet many of these organizations struggle to be seen and understood by the broader community.

In today’s crowded media environment, nonprofit stories are often overshadowed. Without visibility, even the most impactful work can go unnoticed, making it harder to connect with donors, volunteers, and community members who rely on these services.

That’s why Public Media Network is launching Stories that Work for Good, a new, grant-funded storytelling initiative designed to help nonprofits share their mission and impact through professional media.

Through this six-month program, 2-3 Kalamazoo County nonprofits will receive a customized branded content campaign, including professional video production, storytelling support, and broad community distribution across PMN’s cable, streaming, and digital platforms. The goal is not advertising or event promotion, but mission-driven storytelling that builds understanding, trust, and long-term engagement.

Stories that Work for Good is part of mediaImpact, Public Media Network’s branded content studio, and reflects PMN’s commitment to making powerful storytelling accessible to organizations regardless of budget.

Applications are now open to Kalamazoo County nonprofits ready to invest in telling their story and reaching new audiences.
