Let’s take a look at this week’s local meetings! We’ve got Comstock, Oshtemo, Kalamazoo County, and City of Kalamazoo meetings. There have been some important discussion items in recent weeks, including Data Center Moratoriums, Emergency Sirens, and more.
Monday (07/20)
Comstock Township Board of Trustees (6:00 PM, PMN3): The Comstock Township Board will provide first Reading of Ord 571, which amends the Zoning Ordinance for Planning Unit Development. The board will also appoint Wellhead Protection Ordinance Administrators, further discuss EPS Security updates, and take possible action on the approval of a new Sheriff contract. City of Kalamazoo Committee of the Whole (5:00 PM, PMN4): The Committee of the Whole meeting for the City of Kalamazoo will primarily focus on a presentation of amendments to the City’s Marihuana Social Equity Policy. Then, the Committee will enter a closed session to discuss pending litigations.
Kalamazoo City Commission (7:00 PM, PMN4): The City Commission will vote to approve many consent agenda items, including appointments to Boards and Commissions, contract extensions, a Utility Policy Easement for the Duke Street Apartments Project, and more. The Regular Agenda will focus on establishing contracts and Professional Service Agreements for upcoming water meter replacement projects, design engineering service needs, water main replacements, and more. Tuesday (07/21)
Kalamazoo County Committee of the Whole (4:00 PM, PMN3): The County Committee of the Whole will hear an Annual Comprehensive Financial Report for the 2025 Fiscal Year, discuss potential amendments to the board’s bylaws & rules of procedure, and enter Closed Session for the purpose of strategy and negotiation sessions. Kalamazoo County Board of Commissioners (6:30 PM, PMN3): The County Board will vote on adding judges to the Ninth Circuit Court and Eighth District Court, vote on approval for funding of hair care services for the Kalamazoo County Jail, and authorize discussion with Chief Judges about proposed Court Administrator employment agreements. City of Kalamazoo Historic District Commission (6:00 PM, PMN4): The Historic District Commission will review applications for Alterations at 510 Minor (window replacements), 715 Wheaton (conversion of rear deck into a 4-seasons room), and 1002 W North (window replacements). After these reviews, the board will elect officers and review the coordinator’s report.
Wednesday (07/22)
Comstock Township Downtown Development Authority (5:30 PM, PMN4): The Comstock DDA will further discuss the DDA Plan, National Night Out, and Emergency Siren in the Downtown area.
Thursday (07/23)
Oshtemo Township Planning Commission (6:00 PM, PMN3): At the Planning Commission meeting in Oshtemo, the Commission will hear a presentation on forthcoming amendments to various environmental protection related ordinance provisions as well as the addition of wellhead protection standards, as well as present suggested updates to the residential Zoning Ordinance.
Comstock Township Planning Commission (6:00 PM, PMN2): The Comstock Planning Commission will hold an informational session on the Proposal for the Battery Energy Storage System development, as well as continue work on Wireless Communications Facility Proposal at 67 Van Bruggen.
