Kalamazoo Township trustees heard proposals October 26 from three finalists to manage Grand Prairie Golf Course, but took no vote.
Each finalist gave a presentation of about 15 minutes, followed by questions from board members. Presenters described their backgrounds and plans for the course, including junior golf programs, regular financial reporting to the township, and ways to use the property in the off-season. Board members also asked how each would keep the course accessible to golfers of all ages and skill levels. Grand Prairie’s golf season is now over for the year.
Board members said they plan to use most of the November 9 work session to discuss what they heard. If the board is ready, a decision on how to proceed could be added to the November 23 business meeting. If not, it could move to December 1 to allow another work session. Board members said the first formal step would be directing the township superintendent to begin negotiating a contract. A vote to approve a contract would come after that.
Residents were given note cards at the meeting to write questions for the finalists. Residents can also send questions through the Contact and Hours page at ktwp.org, which goes to the superintendent. Board members asked that questions and comments arrive as soon as possible so the finalists can respond before the board next meets. Trustees also asked for copies of all three presentations.
The board meets the second and fourth Monday of each month, with a work session at 6 p.m. and a meeting at 7 p.m.
