Colin’s Journey: Impact Spotlight

3 Min Read

A couple years ago, Colin thought he was going to go into animation. Then he thought maybe film was the route for him. Attending classes at Public Media Network gave him the space and freedom to explore his creative passions and discover what he really wanted to pursue!

“I feel very welcomed at PMN, and I feel like I can express myself. It’s just a get away place after school. After I’m done with school in the morning, it just feels so great to come here and just do something I love doing instead of sitting through boring lectures. I love this place.”

That’s what Colin had to say about his time at Public Media Network back in 2022, when he was a senior in high school. He was thankful to have a space where he could come to express himself creatively, meet new people and have fun.

He was also able to explore career opportunities. He knew he had passion for a creative field, but he wasn’t sure which avenue to follow. Through his time here, he explored 3D animation, media production, and discovered this “wonderful place to experiment and try new things!”

Now Colin is going to be a junior at Savannah College of Art and Design, studying Themed Entertainment Design and Industrial Design. “Everyday I work on theme park projects and it’s something I dreamed about as a kid.” I was so excited for him when I heard that he is loving his classes!

He noted that “PMN gave me practical experience in professional and media development… Matt and Tony were wonderful mentors. Their discipline and dedication to education impacted my life for the better.”

If you know someone who has been considering getting involved here at Public Media Network, whether that be through taking a class, creating a podcast, or just stopping by and seeing what we can offerwould you please share this story with them?

And consider making a donation to support this resource for students and creators alike. As Colin puts it: “Access to new technology allows new ways to wonder and play!” Couldn’t have said it better myself.
