As we enter another week of local government meetings, let’s take a quick look at some noteworthy agenda items:
Monday (08/11):
Comstock Township Parks and Recreation Commission (6:00 PM, PMN3): The Comstock Township Parks Commission will address business regarding Robert Morris Park Beach Closures, ADA accessibility, development at Neal Park, and a project for Merrill Park River’s Edge.
City of Kalamazoo Committee of the Whole (5:00 PM, PMN4): The Committee of the Whole will hold a special meeting for a presentation on the next steps in the City Manager search process.
Kalamazoo Township Board of Trustees (7:30 PM, PMN4): The Township Board will hear a presentation on the May 2025 Storm Clean-up performed by Lazaro’s Tree Service, as well as Board member reports and a motion to authorize the Intergovernmental Fire Protection Hazardous Materials Incident Protection Response Agreement.
Tuesday (08/12):
Road Commission of Kalamazoo County (3:00 PM, PMN2): When available, RCKC Meeting Agendas are posted here.
Oshtemo Township Board of Trustees (5:30 PM, PMN3): The Township Board will present second readings of ordinance amendments on Fire Code and Regulations, as well as Text Amendments to False Alarms. Additionally, Budget Amendments will be reviewed for Public Works and Fire Department vehicles and training. Read more here.
City of Kalamazoo Citizens Public Safety Review and Appeals Board (6:00 PM, PMN4): CPSRAB hears community complaints that are appealed after they have been investigated by the Office of Professional Standards. The Board also serves in an advisory role to improve public safety service and polices, and works to build community trust, credibility and confidence.
Wednesday (08/13):
City of Kalamazoo Historic Preservation Commission (6:00 PM, PMN4): The City of Kalamazoo Historic Preservation Commission will hear reports on several financial, community-building, and planning aspects of preservation efforts. Then, a consideration on future frameworks for Work Plans.
Thursday (08/14):
City of Kalamazoo Utility Policy Committee (8:30 AM, PMN4): City of Kalamazoo Utility Policy Committee documents can be found here.
Oshtemo Township Planning Commission (6:00 PM, PMN3): Planning Commission to conduct public hearing on proposed Zoning Ordinance amendments to the Mixed Use District and unrelated amendments regarding adult foster care and similar facilities in the residential districts, planned unit development, temporary events, requirement for non-motorized facilities. Additionally, the Commission will review draft one of proposed Zoning Ordinance amendments to the supplemental setback requirements and an unrelated amendment to residential parking.
Comstock Township Planning Commission (6:00 PM, PMN2): The Planning Commission will return to a Rezoning Request for 2591 S 33rd Street, as well as begin business for a Special Use Request for 8379 E Main with a public hearing. Then, continued discussions on the Chicken Ordinance and Accessory Structure Ordinances.
City of Kalamazoo Zoning Board of Appeals (7:00 PM, PMN4): Edison Community Partners is requesting a dimensional variance regarding building materials at 1900 Belford Street.
