Welcome to March! Let’s take a look at this week’s upcoming meetings.
Monday (03/02):
City of Kalamazoo Committee of the Whole (5:00 PM, PMN4): The City Committee of the Whole will discuss an update on the Economic Development Division and Strategy. Then, a motion to enter closed session for Attorney/Client privileged communication.
Kalamazoo City Commission (7:00 PM, PMN4): The City Commission will vote on approval of a contract with Wightman for the design of West Michigan Ave, South Street, and Lovell Street’s conversions from one way to two way operation. The goals of the project include improved safety, connectivity, and ease in use for all modes of transport. The project is funded through the RAISE Planning Grant ($3,000,000) received by the City of Kalamazoo in 2023.
Then, Commissioners will vote on the approval of a Neighborhood Enterprise Zone and acceptance of a Hiring Program Award from the U.S. Department of Justice.
Comstock Township Board of Trustees (6:00 PM, PMN3): The Comstock Board will vote on accepting Attorney recommendations to instate moratoriums on Data Centers and Solar and Wind Energy. The Board will hear a presentation for 864 Lumbard, discuss a complaint regarding the Liquor License Ordinance, and more. Read the full agenda here.
Tuesday (03/03):
Kalamazoo County Committee of the Whole (4:00 PM, PMN4): The Committee of the Whole will hold a Public Hearing for a proposal of Tax-Exempt Capital Improvement Bonds for the Indoor Youth Sports Facility. The Committee will also hear a Housing Framework Update and then enter a Closed Session regarding legal consultation on work permit extensions.
Kalamazoo County Board of Commissioners (6:30 PM, PMN4): The Board will discuss a Judicial Resources Report regarding the Michigan Association of Counties, as well as vote on a long list of Consent Agenda items.
Thursday (03/05):
City of Kalamazoo Planning Commission (7:00 PM, PMN4): The Planning Commission will hold three Public Hearings, one for a Special Use Permit for transitional residences at the dwellings in the duplex at 915 Washington Avenue, another for Special Use Permit for transitional residences at the dwellings in the duplex at 921 Washington Avenue, and finally a Special Use Permit request to develop a gas station with a convenience store at 3810 E Cork Street.
