Let’s take a peek at what to expect in this week’s local government meetings!
Monday (12/15):
City of Kalamazoo Committee of the Whole (5:00 PM, PMN4): The Committee of the Whole will be held in closed session to discuss Attorney/Client Privileged communication.
Kalamazoo City Commission (7:00 PM, PMN4): The City of Kalamazoo Commission meeting will feature two public hearings, for the proposed 2026 Budget as well as the Friendship Village of Kalamazoo project. The City Commission will also detail the rates charged for drinking water, and vote on an ordinance that amends the rates charged for drinking water. Read the full City Commission agenda here.
Comstock Township Board of Trustees (6:00 PM, PMN3): The Comstock Township Board will provide Second Readings of Accessory Structure and Chicken Ordinance Text Amendments as well as Ordinance No.564: Battery Energy Storage Systems. The Board will also open Public Hearings for seven budget categories, including Fire Fund, Senior Services, Library Funds, and more.
Kalamazoo Public Schools Board of Education (7:00 PM, PMN5): The Thursday, December 18th KPS Board of Education meeting has been rescheduled to Monday, December 15th.
Tuesday (12/16)
Road Commission of Kalamazoo County (3:00 PM, PMN3): The Road Commission will meet Tuesday to vote on approvals for the 2026 MDOT contract, appointments to Board positions, Capital Improvement Plan, 2026 draft budget, and more.
Kalamazoo County Committee of the Whole (4:00 PM, PMN4): When available, meeting files for the Kalamazoo County Committee of the Whole meetings can be found here.

City of Kalamazoo Natural Features Protection Review Board (4:00 PM, PMN2): The NFPR Board will review an application for the Westgate Sports Complex at 1617 N. Drake Rd.
City of Kalamazoo Historic District Commission (5:00 PM, PMN3): An application for 224 E Michigan is requesting the addition of two signs, and the Historic District Commission will also schedule the regular meetings for 2026.
Wednesday (12/17)
City of Kalamazoo Environmental Concerns Committee (4:30 PM, PMN4): When available, Environmental Concerns Committee meeting materials are found here.
Comstock Township Downtown Development Authority (5:30 PM, PMN3): The Comstock DDA will hold a Public Hearing for the Preliminary 2026 DDA/TIF Budget and Capital Improvement Program, as well as vote on a finalized 2026 Budget.
