“My parents coming from Sierra Leone in the 90’s shaped my perspective as a first generation American”. Yeaniva grew up low-income, black, female and African, adding layers to the stereotypes and racism out there. She felt weird growing up and it’s taken its toll on her self-esteem, until college, where she met more people like herself. Now she is looking to inspire awareness and openness and for people to be more accepting to folks different from you.
