Dabney & Co., located in Downtown Kalamazoo, is a cocktail bar with a unique and soulful vibe. Inspired by the allure of the speakeasy era, Dabney & Co. offers handcrafted cocktails, soulful music, and great food in a room with dim lights, closed curtains, and a cozy environment.
In honor of Black History Month, Dabney & Co. partnered with other local organizations to host “Echoes of Harlem”, a homage to jazz and important figures of the Harlem Renaissance. The event included a live performance of jazz classics by the talented WMU alum Aris Chalin, and a presentation about jazz history. We spoke to Pastor Millard Southern from the Allen Chapel AME Church, who spoke passionately about what jazz music represents.
