Comstock Township businesses don’t need to have been in the tornado’s path to qualify for federal disaster relief.
An SBA representative told the township board that Kalamazoo County businesses experiencing indirect economic losses from the March 6 storm (reduced revenue, payroll gaps, supply disruptions) are eligible for Economic Injury Disaster Loans of up to $2 million. Interest rates start at 4% for businesses and 3.625% for nonprofits, with no payments required in the first year. There’s no cost to apply and no penalty for declining.
The physical disaster loan deadline is June 28; the economic injury loan window stays open through January 2027.
Apply online or in person by appointment at the SBA’s Three Rivers outreach center before it closes at the end of May.
