Got an Idea for a Podcast? Let’s Make It Real.

Maybe you’ve got a topic you can’t stop talking about. Maybe you’ve got a story only you can tell, or a perspective you wish more people could hear. Whatever it is, Hit the Record is where that idea becomes an actual, launched podcast — with your voice, on your terms.

This hands-on course walks you through the entire podcast production process, from your very first idea to a polished episode ready to share with the world.

What You’ll Learn

Over the course of the program, you’ll get real, hands-on experience with the same tools and spaces working creators use, including:

  • Studio production — using Public Media Network’s professional studio spaces
  • Camera & audio operation — running the equipment behind every great podcast
  • Visual storytelling fundamentals — because even audio-first content benefits from strong visual thinking
  • Recording your pilot episode — turning your idea into your first real recording
  • Editing basics — shaping raw recordings into a polished, listenable episode

By the end, you won’t just understand how podcasts get made — you’ll have made one yourself.

More Than Just Technical Skills

Hit the Record is about building confidence as much as building a podcast. You’ll collaborate with other creators, get feedback on your ideas, and learn how media can be used to amplify your own voice and the voices of your community. Whether your podcast is about music, sports, local issues, personal stories, or something entirely your own, this program gives you the space and support to bring it to life.

Your Podcast Journey Starts Now

Your podcast starts with your ideas, your passions, and your desire to share your story. All you need to bring is curiosity — we’ll help you handle the rest.

Spots are limited. Register today and start your journey on January 30th, 2027
